A dental implant is a surgical component that attaches to the jaw bone and supports dental work such as crowns, bridges, dentures and has the role of an orthodontic anchor. The foundation of modern dental implants is a biological process called osseointegration where materials, such as titanium, adhere tightly to the bone. The implant is attached first, followed by other dental work (crown bridge ...). A bridge, crown or prosthesis is attached to the implant.
